The Trustee (Education) role supports the strategic direction and governance of MADD College, with a particular focus on Further and Higher Education. The role ensures the organisation maintains high academic standards, aligns with sector expectations, and delivers quality outcomes for learners progressing into professional performing arts careers or higher-level study.

The Trustee will work as part of a committed Board to provide oversight, guidance, and strategic input. Key responsibilities include:
  • Contributing to the overall governance and strategic development of MADD College
  • Advising on Further and Higher Education frameworks, quality assurance, and curriculum development
  • Supporting compliance with relevant education standards, awarding bodies, and regulatory requirements
  • Offering insight into student progression pathways into Higher Education and industry
  • Acting as a critical friend to senior leadership, providing constructive challenge and support
  • Attending and actively participating in Board meetings (typically quarterly)
  • Supporting sub-committees or working groups where relevant
The role is collaborative and strategic rather than operational.

Essential:
  • Professional experience in Further and/or Higher Education
  • Understanding of academic quality assurance and curriculum development
  • Strategic thinking and ability to contribute at Board level
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
  • Experience of governance or trustee roles
  • Knowledge of performing arts education or creative industries
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks within FE/HE
Personal qualities:
  • Commitment to education and student development
  • Willingness to contribute time and expertise
  • Ability to work collaboratively and provide constructive challenge
